Great update for the kitchen. I am writing to address some reviews regarding motion detector sensitivity. I was wary of this when I ordered and I appreciate all the critical comments on this can and others, they really help, but my personal experience is that the sensor is set up perfectly. We have an average-sized kitchen, there isn't much traffic, and the can is in a corner away from the sink and stove activity, but close to the back door, so people walk by frequently. I haven't had a single accidental opening yet. But the sensor responds quickly when I wave my hand or what I'm about to throw on the lid. It sounds silly, but this can is really amusing me right now. Much better, quieter and more practical than the stepper it replaced. And we are using rechargeable C cells. I will update my review when I have an idea of how long the charge lasts. One last thing about the sensor: there is a flashing red light that comes on when you are near the can. I think maybe it's a pre-sensor and it puts the main sensor on alert but doesn't open the lid. Sometimes we notice it when passing by. So when it flashes, the can is probably more sensitive and ready to open. Is it also possible that due to negative reviews the manufacturer has improved the electronics But my new can, from October 2023, works perfectly. Very happy with him. Update February 2024: Batteries last a long time. This can is used daily in the kitchen frequently and I have changed the batteries twice since I bought the can over three months ago, and not because the batteries were dead, but because the lid is starting to get sluggish. And I'm using AA size Eneloop rechargeable batteries in C size adapters (not actual C size). Therefore, less than half the amp hours of the actual C cells. With that in mind, if you use C size alkaline, I'd guess it could use up about three months, maybe more, of your batteries.

April 18, 2024I LOVE THE TRASH CAN!! I never thought I'd say I love a trash can… BUT I love this trash can!!! Before I got this one, I had a different brand, but I was never able to open it on the first or second try. The motion sensor was a joke. BUT with this trash can the motion sensor is amazing and I also love the look of the can. Stylist and effective!! BUY IT!! You will not regret!!
